RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The SDCC softball team lost an extra-inning affair in Game 1 and was shut out in Game 2 as La. Sierra took both games on Friday.

 

The Hawks lost 5-4 in eight innings before dropping the second 4-0.

 

In Game 1, La Sierra was on the board first with a run in the bottom of the third inning to take the modest 1-0 lead. In the top of the fourth, the Hawks scored three to take the lead.

 

Emily Lonetree doubled through the right side scoring Alicia Corona from second. SDCC added two more runs off a fielding error. Lonetree and Marley Rimoldi came home to score for the Hawks.

 

The Golden Eagles added two in the bottom of the inning to tie the game and took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs in the sixth, the Hawks found the tying run. Lonetree scored thanks to another error from La Sierra.

 

In extras, the Hawks couldn't get their run from second in, but the Golden Eagles did to win 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth.

 

La Sierra did all their damage in Game 2 in the first inning. They scored all four runs in the bottom of the inning.

 

The Hawks were held to four hits in the game.

 

SDCC is back on the field March 4 as they host Goshen College. The DH is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
