Hawks Athletic Training
Quality health care is vital for physically active individuals. Certified Athletic Trainers' (ATC) have a long history of providing this care based upon specific tasks, knowledge and practical skills acquired through their nationally recognized educational process. The Athletic Training profession has been recognized as an allied health care profession by the American Medical Association (AMA) since 1990. Currently, there are over 30,000 certified athletic trainers employed nationwide in a variety of settings.
The ATC is one of the most important components of a complete collegiate athletic sports program. An athletic trainer is an allied health professional who works under the direction of a licensed physician to provide health care to active individuals. His/her role is to prevent injuries, recognize and evaluate injuries, manage and treat injuries, and educate and counsel active individuals. An athletic trainer provides on-site evaluation and treatment for the injured athlete, immediate first aid care, follow-up rehabilitation care, and specific conditioning programs for injury prevention.
