EL CAJON, Calif. – Senior night was a huge success for the San Diego Christian College Hawks. Led by senior Courtney Cranston, the young, competitive team was able to take down Life Pacific in front of a great home crowd by a score of 59-43.
In the first three minutes, LPU was able to grab an early three-point lead. SDCC's Australian duo of Isabel Feller, who drained a trey to knot things up, and Maddison Zugna, who put in consecutive layups, grabbed control and the Hawks never looked back.
Madison Beckham and Laura Smith got in on the scoring in the second quarter and helped the Hawks take a seven-point lead into the locker room.
After the break, senior Cranston would get into the scoring column with a jumper three minutes in. Three-pointers from Feller and Beckham would help extend the SDCC lead to seventeen headed into the final period.
A steady flow of points from Jamee Joseph, Smith, and Mamaeia Makoni would proceed four-straight from Cranston who extended the San Diego Christian lead to 23. The team would cruise to victory from there.
Coach Chaffin reflected on the evening, "This was a fun evening to honor our lone senior Courtney, as well as to get our young reserves some quality playing time in a league game. It was important to get a couple of our banged-up players some rest, which we were able to do. But tonight was Courtney's night!"
