            <title>[Men's Soccer] Bethel Blanks Hawks in Season-Opener</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>SANTEE, Calif. &ndash; Bethel College spoiled the SDC men&#39;s soccer season-opener as the Pilots took down the Hawks 3-0 in front of the hometown crowd.</p>&nbsp;<p>After 33 scoreless minutes, the Pilots notched their first. Lucas Moreira stole the ball from the Hawks defense and slotted the breakaway goal past <a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/21/5/1406.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Josh Epstein</a>.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Hawks were held without a shot in the first half while Bethel tallied four.</p>&nbsp;<p>SDC had their best chance of the game in the 57th minute. <a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/21/5/1419.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Joseph Fortini</a> cracked a shot from 12 yards out but was saved by the Bethel keeper. Seconds later, Sebastion Carrion flicked on a header that hit the inside of the left post but was cleared off the line as Bethel preserved their shutout.</p>&nbsp;<p>Three minutes later, the Pilots extended their lead as a shot was deflected off a Bethel forward and past Zachary Satton who was leaning the other way. The Pilots added their last goal in the 79th minute.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Hawks will have two days off before their next contest on Monday as they travel to Lancaster to take on the Pioneers of Antelope Valley.</p>]]></description>

            <title>[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Releases 2016 Schedule</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>SANTEE, Calif &ndash; The San Diego Christian men&#39;s soccer program has announced its schedule for the 2016 season as third-year head coach <a class="rosterProfileLink rosterCoachProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/21/5/1404.php">Josh Westermann</a> looks to get back into the GSAC Tournament for the second consecutive season and fourth in five years.</p>&nbsp;<p>The path to the playoffs will have strong tests in the first set of games as their non-conference schedule collectively went 63-44-7 last year. The Hawks host Bethel (Ind.) for the season opener on August 19th. The Pilots constantly find themselves at the top of the Crossroads League and went 13-7-3 last year.</p>&nbsp;<p>A trip up to Lancaster against Antelope Valley follows with a home game against Embry-Riddle. Two straight road games against La Sierra and Soka before two homes games against the Flames of Bethesda and Saint Katherine College. The Hawks will travel in their last non-conference game to Pasadena against Providence Christian before starting their GSAC contests.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Hawks host Menlo in the first GSAC game of the year on Sept 22. SDC hits the road for the first time in conference with games against Westmont on the 24th and Hope International on the 28th.</p>&nbsp;<p>In October, the Hawks will play three straight home games. The Master&#39;s College visits on the 1st followed by Biola on Oct. 8 and Westmont on Oct. 10.             <title>[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Inks Reinis for 2016-17 Season</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>SANTEE, Calif. &ndash; On the heels of their first double-digit win season in three years, the SDC men&#39;s soccer team has bolstered its roster with the signing of Juan Carlos (JC) Reinis for the 2016-17 season.</p>&nbsp;<p><img alt="" src="/images/2015-16/JC%20Action%20Shot.JPG" style="border-style:solid; border-width:3px; float:left; height:246px; margin:3px; width:175px" />&quot;JC is a fantastic addition to our team and we look forward to him making an immediate impact,&quot; Head Coach <a class="rosterProfileLink rosterCoachProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1101.php">Josh Westermann</a> said. &quot;He&#39;s smooth with the ball at his feet and calm under pressure. He possesses the technical ability and tactical awareness to succeed as an outside back at the college level.&quot;</p>&nbsp;<p>JC was a 4-year starter at Whittier Christian High School and was named team captain for his junior and senior years. He earned 1st-Team All Olympic League his junior and senior years as well. JC was also named Team MVP as a sophomore, junior, and senior.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Hawks look to earn back-to-back double-digit wins for the first time in school history in 2016.</p>]]></description>

            <title>[Men's Soccer] Suarez, Henrique, Saliba Named to All-GSAC Team</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>SANTEE, Calif. &ndash; <a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1100.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Pedro Henrique</a>, <a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1099.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Alex Saliba</a>, and <a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1097.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Borja Suarez</a> were named to the All-GSAC Team presented by Under Armour announced by the conference on Monday.</p>&nbsp;<p>The trio was among 21 others that were selected for the prestigious honor.</p>&nbsp;<p>Henrique, who leads the GSAC with 13 goals, was named to the All-GSAC for the second consecutive year. He also leads the conference in shots (69) and is tied in game-winning goals with four. Henrique also is tied for the lead on the team with five assists with fellow All-GSAC Team member Suarez.</p>&nbsp;<p>Suarez, second in GSAC with 12 goals, was named to the All-GSAC for the first time. The junior midfielder is second on the team with 29 points (12 goals, 5 assists).</p>&nbsp;<p>Saliba followed the two with six goals and tied with five assists. He scored the lone goal against San Diego State in an exhibition to tie the game at the time.</p>&nbsp;<p>The trio will look to guide the Hawks to get back to a GSAC Championship game for the first time since 2012. First in their way is The Master&#39;s College in the opening round.             <title>[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Sweeps GSAC Awards</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>SANTEE, Calif. &ndash; <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1107.php">Josh Epstein</a> and <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1100.php">Pedro Henrique</a> have been named GSAC Men&#39;s Soccer Players of the Week announced by the conference Monday.</p>&nbsp;<p>Epstein earned Defensive Player of the Week after he helped the Hawks shutout The Master&#39;s College and Hope International in the week. He tallied five saves in the process.</p>&nbsp;<p>Henrique delivered a goal and two assists for the Hawks to earn Offensive Player of the Week. He scored the game-winning goal against The Master&#39;s College on Wednesday.</p>&nbsp;<p>The wins against HIU and TMC clinched a playoff spot for the GSAC Tournament starting late next week. SDC still has two games on its schedule. They will host William Jessup on Thursday before traveling to Santa Barbara to face the Warriors of Westmont.&nbsp;</p>]]></description>

            <title>[Men's Soccer] Biola Scores in the Final Seconds to Defeat Hawks</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>SANTEE, Calif. &ndash; The San Diego Christian Men&#39;s Soccer team was on the other end of a see-saw battle against Biola Tuesday.</p>&nbsp;<p>Tied 3-3 late in the game, the Eagles scored with 14 seconds remaining off a corner kick to defeat SDC 4-3 in a pivotal GSAC match.</p>&nbsp;<p>With the loss, the Hawks fall to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in conference. Biola improves to 9-3-1 on the season and 5-0-1 in the GSAC. The Eagles also swept the season series against the Hawks.</p>&nbsp;<p><a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1214.php">Joseph Fortini</a> got the Hawks on the board first with a goal in the 33rd minute. <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1099.php">Alex Saliba</a> played a long ball to the running Fortini. He beat the defenders and cracked a 20-yard shot in the upper 90 past Biola&#39;s keeper.</p>&nbsp;<p>SDC led at the break with that score. Biola outshot the Hawks 6-2 in the first.</p>&nbsp;<p>In the 57th minute, the Eagles leveled the score as Leonardo Contreras collected a failed clearance by a Hawks defender. He took a touch and then buried it past SDC keeper <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1107.php">Josh Epstein</a>. Contreras gave Biola a 2-1 lead in the 63rd minute as he dribbled by a couple defenders and curled in his shot from the left side of the box. The Eagles tallied another goal in the 67th minute increasing their lead to 3-1.</p>&nbsp;<p>Slowly, the Hawks made their comeback.</p>&nbsp;<p><a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1217.php">Paul Herscowitz</a> gave the Hawks their second goal of the game off a throw in from <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1207.php">Patrik Borchmann</a>. Herscowitz took a touch and his half-volley went into the side netting in the 71st minute.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Hawks tied the game up in the 85th minute as a free-kick from <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1100.php">Pedro Henrique</a> found <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1225.php">Gabriel Rude</a>&#39;s head. His header found the back of the net for the 3-3 tie.</p>&nbsp;<p>But Biola put the pressure on the Hawks late in the half with three corner kicks in 26 seconds. SDC survived the first two but Joey O&#39;Keefe answered with the dagger off the third corner kick from John Hanscom giving the Eagles the win.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Eagles outshot the Hawks 13-5 in the game.</p>&nbsp;<p>SDC will have an eight-day layoff before their next game against No. 17 The Master&#39;s College on Oct. 21 in Santa Clarita.             <title>[Men's Soccer] Borja Suarez Hat-Trick Leads Hawks Past ACU</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>PHOENIX &ndash; <a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1097.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Borja Suarez</a> tallied a hat-trick and <a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1217.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Paul Herscowitz</a> added a goal late as the San Diego Christian Men&#39;s Soccer team defeated Arizona Christian 4-1 Saturday.</p>&nbsp;<p>With the win, the Hawks improve to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in GSAC play, tied for third with The Master&#39;s College and Westmont. The Firestorm falls to 3-6-1 on the season and 1-4 conference.</p>&nbsp;<p>Suarez&#39;s first goal came in the 12th minute to give SDC a 1-0 lead. He collected a loose ball in the box and slid it past the ACU keeper.</p>&nbsp;<p>The celebration didn&#39;t last long as ACU scored in the 39th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Bernardo Venancio scissor kicked a cross by Jacob Drenth into the right side of the net and past <a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1107.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Josh Epstein</a>.</p>&nbsp;<p>But the Hawks responded just before half to regain the lead. Suarez scored three minutes later in the 42nd minute from a failed clearance by the Firestorm defense. SDC led 2-1 into the halftime break.</p>&nbsp;<p>Suarez completed the hat-trick in the 62nd minute, cutting up the defense and beating the ACU goalie.</p>&nbsp;<p><a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1214.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Joseph Fortini</a> crossed the ball to Herscowitz as he added the extra insurance goal in the 89th minute.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Hawks tallied 16 shots in the game compared to 14 from ACU. Epstein played the 90 minutes between the pipes allowing just the one goal while collecting seven saves.</p>&nbsp;<p>SDC will be back home for more GSAC play as they host conference-leading Biola.             <title>[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Drops GSAC Match Against No. 3 Vanguard</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>SANTEE, Calif. &ndash; The reigning GSAC Tournament Champion and No. 3 ranked Vanguard defeated the San Diego Christian Men&#39;s Soccer team 2-0 in a conference bout Tuesday.</p>&nbsp;<p>With the loss, the Hawks fall to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in GSAC play. The Lions improve to a brisk 10-1 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in conference.</p>&nbsp;<p>After a scoreless first-half, Vanguard was the first to break the defense. In the 60th minute, a Lion forward was tripped in the box for a penalty kick. Luke Kadillak calmly put it past the diving <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1107.php">Josh Epstein</a> for the 1-0 lead.</p>&nbsp;<p>In the 68th minute, <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1210.php">Ralf Coelsch</a> made an attempt on goal but his header missed the target.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Lions added some insurance in the 84th minute as Daniel Yo headed a long throw in by Zac Way.</p>&nbsp;<p><a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1099.php">Alex Saliba</a> gave the Hawks a chance late in the 87th minute but his rocket of a shot was saved by the Lions keeper.</p>&nbsp;<p>Vanguard led the Hawks in shots at 9-7. Saliba led SDC with three total shots. <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1100.php">Pedro Henrique</a> was next with two.</p>&nbsp;<p>Epstein tallied three saves in the 90 minutes played.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Hawks look to get back in the win column as they head to Phoenix Saturday to take on the Firestorm.&nbsp;</p>]]></description>

            <title>[Men's Soccer] Saliba's OT Goal Secures Win Against Menlo</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>ATHERTON, Calif. &ndash; After trailing just eight minutes into the game, the San Diego Christian Men&#39;s Soccer team score two unanswered goals, one in overtime, to defeat Menlo 2-1 Saturday afternoon.</p>&nbsp;<p><a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1097.php">Borja Suarez</a> scored in the 33rd minute and <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1099.php">Alex Saliba</a> scored the game winner as his upper 90 shot in the 94th minute gave the Hawks the golden-goal win.</p>&nbsp;<p>With the win, the Hawks improve to 7-4 on the season and 2-1 in GSAC play. The Oaks fall to 7-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference.</p>&nbsp;<p>Menlo scored on their first attempt of the game with just 8:02 into the half. Robert McCowan scored off an assist from Luis Nunez.</p>&nbsp;<p>Twenty-five second later, the Hawks looked to get on the board but <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1100.php">Pedro Henrique</a>&#39;s shot went too high.</p>&nbsp;<p>Henrique had another attempt to level the score, this time from the penalty spot. But his shot was saved and out for a corner kick keeping Menlo&#39;s 1-0 lead.</p>&nbsp;<p>SDC finally broke the Menlo defense in the 33rd minute as Suarez scored 12 minute before half for his sixth goal of the season.</p>&nbsp;<p>Menlo outshot the Hawks 5-4 in the first.</p>&nbsp;<p>Both teams saw nothing going for them in the second half. Each team tallied four shots. SDC put two on frame, while <a href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1107.php" class="rosterProfileLink  Male MSO" >Josh Epstein</a>&nbsp;added one save in the second.</p>&nbsp;<p>In the extra frame, Saliba blasted his shot past the Oaks keeper in the top shelf providing the Hawks with the win.</p>&nbsp;<p>SDC will be back on the field on Tuesday against No. 3 Vanguard.             <title>[Men's Soccer] Biola Hands Hawks First GSAC Loss</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>LA MIRADA, Calif. &ndash; Biola used two first-half goals to defeat the San Diego Christian Men&#39;s Soccer team 2-0 on Saturday, handing the Hawks their first GSAC loss of the season.</p>&nbsp;<p>With the loss, SDC falls to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in conference. The Eagles improve to 5-3-1 and 1-0-1 in GSAC play.</p>&nbsp;<p>Early pressure from the Eagles gave way to a goal in the 10th minute. Biola quickly took the 1-0 lead. The Eagles tallied four shots before that point, with their best chance coming off their first attempt by Joey O&#39;Keefe. O&#39;Keefe&#39;s shot was blocked by a SDC defender to prevent the goal.</p>&nbsp;<p><a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1100.php">Pedro Henrique</a> registered the first shot for the Hawks in the 26th minute but, his attempt was saved by keeper JT Addington. &nbsp;</p>&nbsp;<p>Just before the half, the Eagles tallied another goal in the 31st minute to increase their lead to 2-0. Biola held an 11-2 shot advantage in the first as the Hawks got nothing going on the offensive side of the ball.</p>&nbsp;<p>The Hawks tallied six shots in the second half but none were closer than <a class="rosterProfileLink Male MSO" href="http://www.sdcchawks.com/roster/20/5/1097.php">Borja Suarez</a>&#39;s shot in the 90th minute as his shot pinged the post.</p>&nbsp;<p>SDC will have a week off before their next match as the Hawks are back on the road to play at Menlo College. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m.</p>]]></description>
