Brendan Aguilar was named GSAC Player of the Year announced by the conference. Leonardo Urquidi and Alessandro Moriano were also named to the All-GSAC team.

Aguilar only lost two singles matches all year and one of those was due to injury and is ranked No. 11 in the ITA rankings. The junior from Las Vegas, NV was undefeated in doubles play this year and ranks No. 4 in the ITA rankings for Doubles play with partner Urquidi.

Urquidi is ranked No. 22 in the ITA for singles and Alessandro Moriano is the last of the Hawks ranked at No. 31.

The men's tennis team was ranked inside the top 15 all year thanks to a strong starting lineup. The Hawks will look to continue their early success with a majority of the same lineup heading into the 2017 season.

The Hawks finished with a 9-3 record overall and a 7-2 GSAC mark. The team is currently ranked No. 9 in the nation.

"We were blessed to have such a strong team in only our second year of existence winning the conference co-title," Head Coach Priscilla Jensen said. "Even with our ups and downs including injuries, we fought hard to the end. I'm proud of our men for their development on and off the court."

The Hawks were ranked inside the top 15 all year thanks to a strong starting lineup. The top three singles players on the team all rank inside the ITA Top 50 in singles.

Brendan Aguilar leads the charge ranked No. 11 in singles. His doubles partner, Leonardo Urquidi, is ranked No. 22. Alessandro Moriano is the last of the Hawks ranked at No. 31.

In doubles, Aguilar and Urquidi rank No. 4 in the nation. Moriano and Daniel Superlano just sneaked inside the top 25 coming in at No. 24.

In the west region, the Hawks flood the rankings even more. Aguilar is ranked the best singles player and Urquidi is ranked No. 5. Moriano(8), Superlano (16), Michael Rjazanov(18), and Jan-Erik Isermann (20) complete the top six of the team ranked in the West.

Aguilar and Urquidi rank No. 1 in the West in Doubles as Superlano and Moriano are slated at No. 6.

The women's team have some individuals ranked in the ITA rankings as well.

Aleksandra Emelianova is the top singles player on the team ranked No. 21. Brooke Ferslov-Jensen is No. 39 in singles play. Heather Borsos and Ferslov-Jensen rank No. 19 in doubles.

Emelianova is ranked in the top five in the west region in singles play followed by Ferslov-Jensen (9), Natalia Yamkova (14), and Borsos (17). Borsos and Ferslov-Jensen (5) and Emelianova/Yamkova (8) rank in the West in doubles.

The Hawks only lose one player to graduation. Rjazanov is the only one, men's or women's gone, for next year. SDC looks to continue its phenomenal early success next year.

With the win, the Hawks finish with a 9-3 overall record and a 7-2 in the GSAC. The Royals fall to 2-14 and 0-8 respectively.

The Hawks cruised in doubles, winning No. 3 Doubles by default and No. 1-2 by the same 8-3 score.

In singles, the Royals only had four singles players, giving the Hawks the win right away.

Jan-Erik Isermann was the first to complete his singles competition besides the wins by default. He won in No. 4 Singles 6-01, 6-0.

Michael Rjazanov, playing in his final collegiate game, was the last player on the court, winning his No. 3 Singles match 6-4, 7-6.

"Concluding our season with a clean sweep is awesome," Head Coach Priscilla Jensen said. "Especially for Misha, who played his last singles and doubles of his career. I'm pleased with how the men finished the season.

With the win, the Hawks improve to 8-3 overall and 6-2 in conference. The Warriors fall to 6-7 overall and 5-2 in the GSAC.

"This was a big win for us and we fought very hard to get this score," Head Coach Priscilla Jensen said. "We prepared for this day and were able to play our full line-up unlike the first time we played Westmont. I'm very proud of their positivity and mentality to finish strong today."

The Hawks took an early 2-1 lead after doubles. Brendan Aguilar and Leonardo Urquidi made quick work in No. 1 Doubles winning their match 8-1 to get SDC started. Alessandro Moriano and Daniel Superlano were next with an 8-2 victory. Jan-Erik Isermann and doubles partner Joey Rivera dropped in No. 3 Doubles but not without putting up a fight, falling 9-7.

SDC took all but one match in singles as well. Moriano won in No. 3 Singles 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the victory for the fifth point.

Senior Michael Rjazanov played his last home match in his collegiate career. He won his singles match 6-2, 6-2.

The Hawks will end their season with an away match at Hope International on Tuesday.

With the win, SDC improves to 7-3 on the year and 5-2 in conference play. The loss gave LCSC their first conference loss on the season, as they are an associate member in men's and women's tennis only.

Brendan Aguilar swept his No. 1 Singles counterpart 6-0, 6-0 for the first point in the match. Leonardo Urquidi was next in singles, winning 7-6, 6-0 in No. 2 Singles. The longest match in singles was at No. 3 as Alessandro Moriano defeated Jeff Su 7-6, 7-6.

No. 3 Doubles was the most fought pairing in doubles play with Jan-Erik Isermann and Michael Rjazanov winning 8-6. Daniel Superlano and Moriano won 8-1 in No. 2 Doubles with Aguilar/Urquidi winning by the same margin in No. 1 Doubles.

The Hawks are back on the court as they host No. 9 Westmont on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Lake Murray Tennis Club.

The No. 11-ranked Hawks improved to 6-3 on the season. The Vulcans dropped to 2-6.

SDC took charge in the opening double contests. Aguilar/Urquidi finished first with an 8-4 win in No. 1 Doubles. Superlano/Isermann also won but with a score of 8-3.

The Hawks nearly swept singles. Brendan Aguilar finished first with a quick 6-2, 6-3 win in No. 1 Singles. Michael Rjazanov and Alessandro Moriano were next winning 6-4, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-3 respectively. Jan-Erik Isermann clinched the win and battled with a 3-set victory winning 6-1, 1-6, 6-1. Daniel Superlano won No. 4 Singles 7-5, 6-2 with Leonardo Urquidi dropping a 3-set match in No. 2 Singles 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

SDC will have an 8-day layoff before their next match. The Hawks host No. 20 Lewis-Clark on March 29 at 1:30 p.m.

With the win, SDC improves to 5-2 on the season and 4-1 in GSAC play. The Firestorm fall to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in conference.

After illness attacked the team on Thursday, the men regrouped and fought through.

"We traveled with a few sick men not knowing how we would be feeling in the morning," Head coach Priscilla Jensen said. "It didn't stop us from playing smart and only giving one set away. They wanted this match and it showed on the court. I'm proud of them for pulling it off with a big win."

Alessandro Moriano earned the first point for the Hawks winning 6-2, 6-1 in No. 2 Singles. Michael Rjazanov went next with a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 4 Singles. The Hawks swept the other sets except in No. 3 Singles. Daniel Superlano won 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) to secure the 6-0 sweep in singles play.

SDC won 8-6 in No. 1 Doubles, 8-2 in No. 2 Doubles and 8-6 in No. 3.

The Hawks will travel to Concordia in their next match on Wednesday starting at 2 p.m.

With the loss, the Hawks fall to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in GSAC play. The Warriors stay perfect in the GSAC with a 4-0 record.

SDC earned two points in doubles as Brendan Aguilar and Daniel Superlano won 9-7 in No. 1 Doubles and Jan-Erik Isermann and Leonardo Urquidi defeated Westmont's No. 3 Doubles 8-6.

But the Hawks could only pull off two singles matches. Superlano won 6-1, 7-6 in No. 3 Singles and Isermann pulled off a 6-2, 6-4 win in No. 5 Singles.

SDC is back on the court on March 9 against Palm Beach Atlantic starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Lake Murray Tennis Club.

With the win, SDC does improve to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in GSAC play. The Royals fall to 0-3 on the season and in conference.

Alessandro Moriano made his debut in No. 1 Singles and took care of business 6-3, 6-4. Moriano normally slots in as the No. 3 Singles player but got the nod at No. 1 on Saturday.

"With all the men moving two spots up and against an improved Hope International team, it wasn't an easy for some of them," Head Coach Priscilla Jensen said. "But we knew we could do it and their determination showed."

The only loss in the match came at No. 2 Singles as Michael Rjazanov fell to the Royals No. 2 7-5, 7-5 (8-6).

The Hawks were also tested in No. 1 Doubles. Brendan Aguilar and Daniel Superlano won in extras 9-8 (7-4).

SDC will face one of their toughest tests of the season as they travel to No. 15 Westmont  Saturday in hopes to keep their perfect overall and conference record.

With the win, the Hawks improve to 3-0 and 2-0 in GSAC play on the season while the Firestorm fall to 1-3 and 0-2.

Early in Doubled play, Leonardo Urquidi sprained an ankle but still won No.1 Doubles with partner Brendan Aguilar 8-6. The Hawks also won No. 2 Doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.

Urquidi summoned enough courage to defeat his No. 2 Singles counterpart 7-5, 6-4. No. 1 Singles Aguilar had to retire his third set as the Firestorm gained their second point of the match. But the Hawks won Singles 3, 4, and 5 to secure the win.

SDC will face off against Azusa Pacific on Wednesday.

With the sweep, the Hawks improve to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the GSAC. Biola drops to 0-1 in both season and conference.

"This was a great way to start the first conference match by winning 9-0," Head Coach Priscilla Jensen said. "The men fought hard and played consistent against a good Biola team especially in their singles matches. At times when things didn't go their way, the didn't give up and fought for the points."

Both teams opened with doubles play, as the Eagles gave the Hawks their toughest test of the day. No. 1 Doubles Brendan Aguilar and Leonardo Urquidi finished first with an 8-5 win. Next came No. 3 Doubles with Joey Rivera and Jan-Erik Iserman winning 8-6. Daniel Superlano and Alessandro Moriano had the toughest test having to go an extra point, winning 9-7 in No. 2 Doubles.

Superlano swept singles play, 6-0 6-0, to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead. Brendan Aguilar made quick work of the Eagles No. 1 Singles player with a 6-1, 6-1 victory clinching the match for the Hawks.

SDC will host Arizona Christian on Feb. 13 in their next match. First serve is schduled for noon at the Lake Murray Tennis Courts.

The Hawks avenged last year's loss to the Sea Lions, winning five singles matches and two doubles.

Brendan Aguilar, Leonardo Urquidi, Alessandro Moriano, Daniel Superlano, and Jan-Erik Iserman all defeated their singles opponents.

"I'm very pleased how the men fought today," Head Coach Priscilla Jensen said. "We came in hungry to win and open our season with a bang. In spite of some injuries, we wanted to challenge ourselves mentally and physically. We're excited for this season!"

Michael Rjazanov and Superlano battled in three-set games. Rjazanov won the first set 7-5 before falling 6-3 and 10-7. Superlano came from behind after a 6-0 set one to win 6-3 and 13-11.

The Hawks will open GSAC play on Feb. 6 as they travel to Biola with match time starting at 1 p.m.

The Hawks ended No. 8 in last year's postseason poll after finishing 15-8 in their first ever season and reaching the NAIA Quarterfinals.

SDC brings back the majority of the squad in 2016 in hopes to return to the national stage while adding some key additions, Michael Rjazanov (Vanguard transfer) and Jan-Erik Iserman (Germany).

NAIA First Team All-American Brendan Aguilar and NAIA Second Team All-American Leonardo Urquidi bring experience to an already deep SDC team.

The Hawks will open their season against Point Loma on Jan. 30.

The Hawks flooded the rankings as the ITA announced the top 50 singles players and top 25 doubles teams Tuesday.

For the NAIA Singles rankings, Brendan Aguilar tops the SDC players, ranked No. 13 in the nation. Leonardo Urquidi is right behind him in fourteenth. With his solid individual performance in the UTSA/ITA National Tournament, Alessandro Moriano jumps up 30 spots to No. 16. Newcomer and Vanguard transfer, Michael Rjazanov, finds himself ranked for the first time at No. 19.

Daniel Superlano is also ranked for the first time, reporting in at No. 27. Jan-Erik Isermann is the last of the Hawks ranked in the top 50 at No. 44.

"It's great to see six SDC men ranked in the Fall National Rankings," Head Coach Priscilla Jensen said. "We're getting excited to start the season in January and make more history in just our second year. With such a strong line-up this year, we will do our best to represent the SDC Hawks family!"

For the West Region, the six mentioned were all in the top 12, with Aguilar, Urquidi, Moriano, and Rjazanov ranked 1-4 respectively. Superlano (No. 6) and Isermann (12) round out the rankings in the region.

In Doubles, the combo of Aguilar and Urquidi rank fourth in the nation and with their strong performance from the UTSA/ITA National Tournament, Moriano and Superlano rank fifth. The tandem of Isermann and Rivera round out the doubles rankings for SDC at 15.

The Hawks are also ranked high in the West Region for doubles, taking spots 1, 2, and 4. Aguilar/Urquidi lead the west as the No. 1 team.

SDC reached the NAIA National Tournament in 2015 defeating William Carrey in the Round of 16 before falling in the Elite Eight to the eventual national champions Georgia Gwinnett. The Hawks' first match of the year will happen in 2016 on Jan. 30 against Point Loma.

It showcases top student-athletes in NCAA DII, DIII, Junior/Community College, and the NAIA. Each division represented features eight singles players and eight doubles teams. Over 8,000 student-athletes competed in the USTA/ITA Regional Championships for a chance to qualify for the Nationals.

The duo of junior Alessandro Moriano (Imperia, Italy) and sophomore Daniel Superlano (Caracas, Venezuela) took fourth place at the USTA/ITA National Championships. They reached the semi-finals until they lost a hard-fought match against the No. 1 seed Georgia Gwinnett.

Moriano took eigtht place in the singles draw.

Two weeks prior to nationals, Moriano and Superlano defeated four other pairs of players to become the 2015 USTA/ITA Regional Doubles Champions, stamping their ticket to the National Championships that was held October 15th- 18th.

In singles, it turned to be an All Hawks singles final. Moriano, who also won the doubles title, grabbed four wins to claim the singles title as well. He played his own teammate, Michael Rjazanov (Berlin, Germany), in the finals.

Brooke Ferslov-Jensen (Hesperia, CA) reached the quarterfinals in singles but fell to the no. 1 seed Lauren Stratman of Westmont who won the tournament. The duo Heather Borsos (Toronto, Canada) and Ferslov-Jensen reached the quarterfinals in doubles as well falling to Westmont, the No. 1 seed and champions of the tournament.

"It was our first regional and national tournament and I told them to enjoy it," said Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach Priscilla Jensen. "In regionals, we already dominated the draw in singles with four SDC men in the quarterfinals and both the doubles teams in the semis. I'm proud of their achievements in both the regional and national tournament."
